The United Nations General Assembly passed a resolution declaring 2012 the UN International Year of Co-operatives (IYC). The resolution recognizes the diversity of the co-operative movement around the world and its economic and social contribution. In Canada, in Ontario, and locally, co-ops will be celebrating in 2012.
In celebration of the International Year of Co-operatives COCHF in partnership with the Kitchener Market brought co-ops from around Waterloo Region together on Saturday July 7th, 2012 at the Kitchener Market. The celebration included speakers, tables/tents representing the various local co-ops, cooking demonstrations using Gay Lea Food Co-operative’s products, pottery demonstrations by the Waterloo Potter’s Workshop, music and more. Thank you to everyone that joined us to celebrate this exciting year and support your local co-operatives!
