Looking For Subsidized Housing?
All housing co-ops have some units that are subsidized. Unfortunately, there are usually long waiting lists for these units and you may need to wait two years or longer to obtain a subsidized unit.
Some co-ops keep their own waiting list for subsidized units; others use the municipal waiting list. When you find a co-op on the Locator, you will see whether that co-op has subsidy available, or instead, the link to the municipality’s waiting list for subsidized units in that city will be shown as shown below.
Applications for Rent-Geared-to-Income units in Municipal Co-ops in the Region of Waterloo must be made through the Region of Waterloo Community Housing.
Applications for Rent-Geared-to-Income units in Municipal Co-ops in Guelph must be made through Wellington and Guelph Housing Services.
Applications for Rent-Geared-to-Income units in Municipal Co-ops in Brantford must be made through City of Brantford Housing.
